What is Induction Cooking?

If you have never used an induction cooktop before, you may find that it offers a number of advantages when compared with conventional gas or electric cooktops.

While induction cooktops offer instant response - similar to that given by a gas cooktop - you'll find that they differ in that they only heat the pan, leaving the rest of the worktop cool.

Induction cooktops are particularly useful for preparing delicate foods such as dips or sauces, as well as melting chocolate, as precision heating controls allow you to work on a low setting if you need to.

According to General Electric, induction cooking is the only method that directly uses cookware as a part of the cooking system.

This means that if you plan to use an induction cooktop, you will need to have pots and pans that contain at least some iron content. Experimenting to see whether or not a magnet will stick to the bottom of a pan is a good way of determining whether it contains iron.

Induction cooktops can be fitted in place of an existing countertop cooktop and you will also be able to install this type of workspace in combination with certain types of wall oven - check with your manufacturer for more details.

Because induction cooktops feature a fully flat service, you'll find they are often easier to clean than other types of cooker - all you need to do is wipe them clean with a damp sponge. You may also discover that these are more energy efficient than other kinds of cooktops, which could save you money on your energy bills over time.

If you are thinking about buying a new induction cooktop or a factory second, you may want to look out for a number of features that are unique to this type of system.

These include a child safety lock, an auto pan detection feature, residual heat indicators and an auto switch-off safety feature.

When you place your order  2nds World, you may also find that you can arrange for your old appliance to be collected for a small fee when your new one is delivered - this service is available for customers living in the Sydney Metro area.
